This link doesn't work :(

Edit: Okay, I found it.

I only have one comment - if people in those obviously sham marriages were getting approved, why should legitimate people worry? :)

Jewel,

The sane question stumpled me as well. I talked to my wife after reading this article, and she was also dumb-founded by this. How are these people able to fool the mighty USCIS into their sham marriages? I mean, these people don't live together to start with, and they have a tracker who call the US spouse prior to the interviews to ensure they are on the same page with their immigrant spouse. My suspicion, some at the local DO USCIS was involve on this scheme, because how do you process so many sham marriages without smelling a dead rotten fish? USCIS will not say, because it would be an embarassment.... :(

Unfortunately, people who have legitimate marriages are victimized by USCIS for foolish reasons. For example, imagine being asked what color underwear is your wife wearing? Well... I was in the bathroom shaving when she got dressed, why the hell do you care about my lack of knowing what color her underwear is? Common.... those are ridiculous questions, but USCIS seems to have fell in love with those douche bag questions.

It seems as if people with legitimate marriages should be given free pass to their immigrant benefit, only if they prove that their marriages are bona fide. :D

No....

Al - did they really ask you that? Hilarious. :D

Dr....

NO... I know of people who have been asked that question and got stumped. It seems to be an innocous question, but people have experienced the worst....e.g. when was the last time you had sex..... If I were the interviewee, will tell the USCIS officer.... just now, in the parking lot in the backseat of my 760Li. Do you want me to show you my ....

Personally, I have not being in the immigration process of AOS or so. So, it will be an experience to savour once a notice of interview is mailed to us.

Listen, when you have the weight of law behind you, lawyer or in the process of becoming one, USCIS will thread carefully on issues they might ask you. First of all, US law is very complex, but when you are an effective advocate, you can cause harm to the system, especially if egregious questions are being posed to you with no probable cause. Probable cause should justify aggressive questioning, but embarassing questions could end up on the front pages of Washington Post. I can assure one thing, USCIS wouldn't to be seen asking questions which equal to harassment....

new link.... hope it works...

NO... I know of people who have been asked that question and got stumped.
Yeah, I think I would have been stumped, I usually don't know what colour underwear my wife is wearing until after I/she takes them off. ;)

I agree with you. The smart almighty gods who are supposedly trained to know a fake from a legit marriage had to be a part of the scam as so many could not have gotten away with their scheme. Any intelligent person knows anytime two persons story is so exact 'word for word' it had to be rehearsed. No two persons can retell events in the same manner. But then not to make their bosses suspicious of all their approvals they make it difficult for the legit couples.

I'm shocked that people I shoked. Folks manage to steal Billions of Dollars under the nose of the Us government so what makes a simple marriage Scam so uncommon. I do agree though that it screws it up for all the legit ones like ourselves. All i want to say is that in Life in general wherever the is a will there is a way.

I couldn't read the story but from the just of what people were replying, believe me.... the case officers are corrupt as i don't know what... in one instance, listen to this one- you won't find this in the news paper or making headlines ( and i personally know this person and what she went through)- she was asked a sexual favor of intercourse by her case officer inwhich she had had petitioned for her mother. it got to the point that it became so overt, the case officer started dialing her at her home to arrange for a discrete meeting. She waited until the issue had progressed far enough that the person couldn't affect it... She threatened INS with a letter and a claim that she had a voice recording of the case officer. Within a month her mother was approved and ready to come to the US. believe me, there are a lot of inside jobs that are done in there. I really don't believe that the person i mentioned is an exception. I highly doubt the intelligence, professionalism, and work ethic of these case officers that handle our dear paper-work. to us it's a life-death matter. To them, it's just another day at the office. Believe me- i am 8 years and counting for a misinformation from them.
