Hi friends,
I have got my H-1B visa approved on September 23, 2005. I graduated in December 2004 and applied for OPT starting from January 1st and ending December 31st this year. Currently Iam working for an employer and my employment started on August 31st, 2005. My question is as follows:
I want to know when I should go for stamping my H-1B visa and to which consulate? Should I be going after my OPT expires or should I go for the visa interview before my OPT expires? If so, what is the procedure? Which consulate is the best in terms of handling H-1B visa stamping? Is it better to go for Mexico, Canada or Chennai Consulate in India to get my visa stamped and also which is a faster process? I heard that the best consulate in Canada is the one in Ottawa and also heard that they give the passport next day only by 3 p.m . I also heard that if your visa gets rejected at any of the consulates i.e. Canada or Mexico, you would have to fly back to India. Is it true? If so, when should I be scheduling the appointment and which is the best consulate close by - is it better to get in Mexico or Canada? Actually, Canada would be close by since Iam presently on the East Coast. What are the possible alternatives? Can anybody shed some details on this issue?
Thanks and Regards,
Samuel
P.S. Iam leaving for India tomorrow. Please let me know what's the best option.
