I have been following the various threads here in this portal to be informed and inspired by the successful and not so successful Green card applicants.
And as of July 22, 2009, I have finally received the email notice from USCIS that my adjustment of status has finally been approved, card production ordered, and welcome notice sent to my address.
To introduce myself briefly, I am an filmmaker and multimedia artist who's been in the US since 2003. I was an O-1 visa holder and then applied for EB1-EA on October 2007. I got approved on May 2008 and immediately applied for AOS based on my approved I-140. (My lawyer decided not to file it concurrently for practical purposes-the high cost of AOS application- and my previous EB1 denial thanks to the messy work done by my earlier lawyer.) It took over a year for my I-485 to finally be approved.
It is such a relief! Totally!!! Now I can plan my life better and not be stuck with the day-to-day anxiety of a non-immigrant.
Thanks to all the inputs and stories you all shared! Twas a better journey for me since I started reading all the threads here. Made me feel that I am not alone in this struggle.
I wish you all well. And may you all be successful with your future endeavors as well.
