I'm done for good - N600, thanks and goodbye

Today I went for the oath ceremony with my son in connection with his N600 at Newark, NJ.

We were done in about 2 hours, he was asked to repeat the oath with 8 other kids and that was it.

I guess I now have no reason to frequent this board which I've been doing from my GC days around 7 years ago.

Thanks to everyone who helped and to the sponsors of this really useful forum.

All the best to those of you still waiting.

Goodbye.

Congrats Dandan123 ! A lot of us who visit this forum and post here also have no reason to frequent this board except to help others by sharing the knowledge we have gained through our experience. Anyway good luck !

dandan123, congratulations!! :)

Before we let you off the hook, and considering the few posts we get about N600, I'd like to ask you a few questions.

During those 2 hours, was it only waiting, or did they do an interview? Did they ask you to show any original documents? Do you think the oath is something that they only do for older children? I haven't found definitive information about who gets interview, and who should do the oath, although the closest is 8CFR 341.2

Anyway, for me it looks it will be at least another four months of waiting.

The poor guy has been on this forum for the last 7 years. I think dandan123 is long gone.

Hurracan,

Yes it was only waiting, no interview. We were asked to check in at 8:00 am which we did, around 10 we were all asked to go into the oath room where the oath was administered.

No documents were asked for except those mentioned in the letter -

1. id - no documents issued by non-government entities accepted. So the only thing my son could use was his US passport.
2. GC

The letter also says - " Children under the age of fourteen do not have to appear for the appointment. The parent who has citizenship must appear to sign the certificate and the photographs in the presence of an immigration officer. Please bring your proof of identity and any items checked above."

To all the rest, of course I will be looking in here occasionally, the habit is hard to break ;).

Unlike some others here I'm not very knowledgeable on immigration matters as I'm limited to my own experiences which fortunately have been fairly smooth.

I guess the ones who faced major problems would be more knowledgeable.

Hi dandan123,

I really appreciate your reply. In particular the comment about children under 14 not needing to go to the appointment. I am afraid that they will schedule the interview/oath when my kid will be out of the country for summer vacation. I think I can breath a bit easier knowing that I can take care of this even in that case.

I'm glad that for you, dealing with USCIS for now it is over.

N600-Interview sheduled for March 26

Hi Huracan,
I recd letter from SFO office to appear for interview for Certificate of Citizenship. We filed N600 application around same time (you before me). Hopefully you must have received interview letter also. As DANDAN123 mentioned, I didn't see any comment regarding "Children under the age of fourteen do not have to appear for the appointment.", rather there is note that if applicant is under 18, one of USC parent (not step parent) must attend.

will let you all know the experience. I'll be done with immigration/USCIS and OCI this month(for Good as dandan123 said). :) Thank God!!!
