Hello All,
Finally I took oath on December 1, 2004 and became an US citizen. There were 75 people from 43 countries to take oath at the Philly DO. The proceedings started at 2 PM.........first they called everyone in groups of four, took away our green cards and the oath letter (the officer was asking few questions to everyone on the basis of answers given on the back of the oath letter) and asked us to check the Naturalization certificate for any mistakes. This process took a good 45 mins. This was followed by screening a film and message from the President. The Assistant DO then addressed us for few minutes. Finally, they handed over the certificates one at a time and the ceremony was over by 3:30 PM.
I will be applying for the US passport and get my Indian passport cancelled shortly. On this forum, it was mentioned sometime ago that I need to inform the Social Security Administration also. Can someone tell me how this is done? Do I need to fill any form or just call them? Also is there anything else I need to do?
I want to thank everyone on this forum, especially Rahul Kumar for providing excellent information and insight in to the naturalization process.
