question for experts:
as I said before, my RD 7/99 and ND 9/99, and base on the new timetable, I'm expecting to recieve FP notice anytime now, and if I understand correctly, it is usually scheduled for 2 weeks after arraival?
if I miss my appt(might be out of state)? what will happen? and will rescheduling another one be easy or will it have a dverse effect on my application(timewise).
I have been waiting 4 years and don't want to srew it now
pls help

Hi Siddig,

Like you said, you waited four years for this to happen. Don't screw it up. I would suugest that you don't leave the states till the fiscal year is over. You could also be more conservative and wait two more weeks after fiscal year end to make sure than you won't recieve any delayed mail. So my suggested date will be 10/20/2003. What I would personally do is start bugging them with phone calls. I have a great suspecion that their cutoff date is still April since we didn't hear any new news from members of our forum. Good Luck.

thanks Eaglesky
I know what you mean, but I have to leave before the end of the month , does any one had a similar experience of postponing the FP

I think I may help you with this. My husband was in a similar situation (actually worse). We were supposed to leave the country of July 25th but two days before we left he got his FP notice scheduled for August 9th (our return date was August 18th). So this is what we did: we went to the designated agency the next day (ours does FPs on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so we went on a Saturday), stood in the same line with everyone else and when our turn came we showed them the notice, politely asking if my husband could take care of that there and then instead of rescheduling. To our surprise, they were completely ok with that. It couldn't have been better. These people are not like those INS assholes; they are much kinder -- at least at our local agency.
So I suggest you try and do the same. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain.
Good luck.
M.

Hi
If you receive the FP letter for the date that you know you cannot make just go to your local fp agency on some earlier date and ask them if they can do your fp. Also wouldn't hurt to bring the proof of why can't make the scheduled time. This same thing happed to me (had the exam at the precise time as the scheduled fp) but I went there 1 week early and finished FPs in under an hour (waiting time included). Also consider going there as early as possible as the chance that they'll do your FPs on this alternate date will be higher. As Mirela said, they are actually quite nice. They are not employed by bcis but are private contractors.
Good luck!

Thanks all for your replys.
the situation with me is that I haven't received the FP notice yet, but I expect (actually hope) to hear from them soon based on the schedule.
I have to leave the states by the end of the month and I might take 2 to 3 weeks only (may be more)? shamson said they tell you to do it within 45 days, if that is the case, then I guess I would be OK, pls elaborate shamson?

As i said before, I received the notice on mid october and i remember that they said that if i do not do it by the end of november, my case will be canceled. They try to take into considerations that a person may not be able to get his FP done as a result of accidently cutting his hand. However, I may be an exception. I would wait to see if anyone received the same thing in his FP notice. Also, do not count in the schedule; you never know how messed up these people are.

FP notice that I received this year was about a specific date and time. I was instructed to get the FP done at that appointment or try to reschedule. I did recieve the FP notice about 2 or so months prior to the actual date for FP.

This has been my experience. This was my first FP request and the appointment was for APRIL 2003

.....
