Dear members

I am a new user. Can anybody pls help me with my question?

I got my H1B with a company on Oct 1st 2006, and i didn't go for stamping yet. I am planning to go for stamping in may. My question is, after I go for stamping can i transfer my H1B to another company, If so do I need to go for stamping again for the new employer? I have heard from many people that there is a new law, that we need to go for stamping if we change the employer even though our visa is not expired. Can you please let me know how true is that information. I hope you won't dissappoint me. I registered for this forums with great hope.

Thanks in advance

as far as I know , there is no such law and company's name on H1 stamp does not matter.
Ask those many people which law is it.

Thank you very much for the reply Mr GotPR. people were saying that that was a law came just 1 year back. So i was confused. Anyways thank you very very much once again.

You always have wonderful time
Take care

You need not restamp your H1 with the new employer if you old H1 has not expired. however, regarding traveling on your old Company's H-1B visa, the law states that as long as the underlying H-1B petition that supported the H-1B visa stamp has not been revoked then you are eligible to use the H-1B visa stamp to reenter the U.S. with any successor employer's H-1B approval notice. One way to determine if a petition has been revoked is to utilize the on-line case status inquiry system of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You will need to enter the 13-character H-1B petition receipt number found on the H-1B visa stamp.

usually the original employer does not go through the trouble of revoking the older visa. But for peace of mind and if incase your older visa is to expire soon, you should get it restamped.

hope this helps!
