If I stay home and do nothing will that effect my I-485.

Me and my wife we both applied I-485, my wife is direct beneficiary and I applied as derivative. We also applied for EAD, I am on H1B. My H1B will expires 01/12/2004. My question is that after I get EAD do I have to maintain the H1. If I stay home and do nothing will that effect my I-485. Or should I change to H4.
 
You have nothing to worry about. Since you have already applied for AOS, you are a pending applicant and can sit at home and wait for adjudication. You do not have to convert to H4.
