Hi all,
I am new to this thread.
I am Canadian Citizen and getting job as one of the NAFTA treaty skills.
Please help me with few questions.
My questions are,
1. If I go to border to get my TN visa, do I have to cross the border on same day?
2. Do my employer has to file my TN visa permission, or I will have to do that.
3. My employer should mention it as 2 year contract or 3 year contract job. This question arises, because we need to prove that we don't want to be in US permenanatly, so which one is better?

Thanks a lot to you all.
Regards,
Tina

1. Theoretically/ Technically you get the TN and you start work on the same day. When I got my First TN, I drove thru the day and started my work on the next day. Later I went back to Canada to bring all my stuff on Uhaul

2. All your employer has to do is provide the employment letter to you (I have prepared the letter and employer typed on their letterhead and signed). You take the letter to the POE with required supporting documents and let them know you are there to apply TN

3. 3 year contract letter is not an immigrantion intent. You can ask for 2 years or 3 years depend on your contract. I would apply for 3, if the employer doesn't have a concern
