Hello Everybody,
I got my permanent residency to Canada in the year 2001. I landed in Canada in Feb 2002. I landed and came back to US on the next day. Since then I never been to Canada. Now they are giving everybody PR cards. I have to apply for PR card. But I have no friends there. My question is if I don’t apply for PR card now, after Dec31,2003 I cannot enter to Canada without it. So what are my options? Later if I want to go to Canada do I have to do? Do I have to start all over again? Please post your reply.
Thanks.

You can apply canada after 31st December only using a private vehicle or on foot. You will not be allowed to take a train, bus or plane to enter Canada. These commercial carriers will not simply let you board the vehicle. If you try to enter Canada after 31st Dec then the immigration officer will ask you lot of questions and you may be hasseled more than you expect. It is a better idea to go and apply for the Card now. But as I said you can still enter canada using personal car, rental car or just on foot.

Guys there is a way around

You can apply for temp re-permit in US at Canadian consulate. If you will meet the residency requirement then you will be given one of these permits and then you can re-enter canada using it. But without any this permit there is no way you can re-enter canada after 30th December. They are going to be very strick about it.

If you are interested in finding out about this then you can visit cic.gc.ca and get more information. They have all required information there.

Good luck.

Hi

You will have to apply for a travel document from a Canadian consulate. It is not mandatory that you must apply for a PR card before 30th Dec. 2003. If your residency status is valid they will issue you a travel document which will be like a stamped visa in your passport good for one entry only.
You can then reenter Canada and apply for a PR card. All info about TD is available on cic site
