I485 gets approved when I am out of country

Hi All

I have applied for I-485 and expecting to get approved any time. I do have my H1 valid. I spoke to INS two weeks ago and they told that I should hear something in 30 days. Now I have an emergency to go to Canada and then India. Can I travel and enter back on H1. What if my GC is approved while I am in Canada or India. Almost same is the case with my wife and she has a valid parole. I need to leave tommorow morning, can some guide please?
