If dependent namecheck is pending, can principal app. be approved??

My wife's FP is next week (she is dependent). I'm principal applicant but my FP & namecheck is complete. I filed my I-485 alone & then my wife filed her I-485 later (as my dependent).

Can i get my green card independently of her or they'll wait until my wife's namecheck is complete & then issue our Green card together???

PLEASE REPLY ASAP...I've to take a crucial decison.

Based on recent conversation with NSC immigration officer - YES.

When I enquired about how the dependant cases are processed, that officer said that those cases are "usually" processed at the same time primary applicant are adjudicated. Dependant cases may be delayed if there are any other issues like name-check etc for THEM.

Personally I have come across similar situation with my friend who got his green card in 2004 but his wife is still waiting. His wife had some RFE for something but in the meantime the priority date went back and has been waiting till now. Hope she get it soon.

I am not sure what you mean by "crucial decision". If anything related to changing job immediately after getting greencard, please check with your lawyer, as it may pose problem.
