Hi

I recently got my I-485 approved. I also got stamped. My HR asked my to submit I9-form since I got greencard. I just collected this form from my HR.

What is this I-9 form? Is it compulsory for employee to submit? What else should we do?

You status is changed from H1 to LPR or EAD to LPR, so you need to file I-9 form to reflect that status chage.

I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification

Purpose of Form: All U.S. employers are responsible for completion and retention of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens. On the form, the employer must verify the employment eligibility and identity documents presented by the employee and record the document information on the Form I-9. Acceptable documents are listed on the back of the form, and detailed below under "Special Instructions."

it is your employer's responsibility. You should find a lot of information searching this forum. BTW, even they dont actually file anything. The employer keeps it for the record (which could be audited, though unlikely)
