I94 expiration help needed

My I94 (the document which the immigration writes at the time of entry) is valid till nov 1 2001 ,I have joined a new company and My current H1 is valid until May 2003. I am in process of applying for green card. My lawyer is advising me to go out of country and come back so that my I94
is updated with the latest H1 expiration date. Will there by any
problem for GC if I94 is not been updated?

How can this happen? Do you have an I-94 with your H1 visa? My H1 has a expiration date on it, and that date is also on I-94, which means they should be the same date.

You get a new I94 with new H1B - Transfer or Extention.

This new I 94 is at the bottom of the I 797 form (also called the blue form).

No I94 means

If you did not get I94 along with the 797 approval notice, you have to go out and come in. Alternatively, if you can wait(to file 485) , you can get your passport revalidated from St.Louis and get a new I94.
