My husband came to USA on B1 visa which expired, I'm a US citizen and we got married in Oct. '04. We received the A# after an interview in April 2006. On April 2007 we received letter from USCIS that the case is delayed due to background checks. I called USCIS today and they said they will send us a letter about needing further evidence.

How can I speed up this process? We are tired of waiting!
 
I don't think you can speed up a process, but you can try and do things correctly the first time around to impede any delays that may occur (like USCIS requiring more evidence)... check out the book I have below in my sig and/or you can talk to an immigration lawyer who handles situations like yours every day!!
