I got a Transfer Notice (RD 8/4/00; ND 11/21/00) from VSC.
It states that "preliminary processing of the above application has been completed, and it has been transferred to the local INS office. That office will notify you when they schedule an interview on the application."
Office is in New York at Federal Plaza.
Can anyone give me some info on:
1. How long does it take them in NY to schedule an interview (ND11/21/00)?
2. My lawyer says case has been transferred because I have another case still open. I did have a case - an asylum request. It was denied on 02/96 and judge gave me till 09/96 to transfer to H1-B, which I did on 04/96. I was assured by the judge and my prior lawyer that this case will be automatically closed as soon as I get my H1-B. Apparently it is not so. How bad is it? What should I expect from the IIO on interview? Any insights?
