Hi, all:

I recieved RFE for my I-485 (delivery delayed for more than a month due to address change. So do not move if you have a choice). The RFE is only for an incomplete medical examination form (supplemental form to I-693). The physician completed the form and sealed it in a professional envelope. In my response to the RFE, shall I send any other important documents in addition to the completed medical form? Please share your previous experiences if there were.

Thanks a million for your help.

I-140 AD (NIW EB2): 08/18/05 :)
I-485 ND: 04/29/04
I-485 RFE: 09/26/05
I-485 AD: ??? :(

I don't have experience in replying to RFEs, but I have read on these forums that making a copy of the RFE and submitting the copy in addition to submitting a cover letter explaining your RFE response seems like a common way of doing it.

Hello:

I received an email about a RFE for my 485 and I am curious/anxious about it.

I hope you have responded to your RFE. I would appreciate if you can answer some questions.

Are you from a retrogressed country?
I have an attorney and will I get a copy of the RFE?
Thanks.

I have heard that RFEs go to the lawyers, and the lawyer if a decent one he should send you a copy for your records. I am NOT from a retrogressed country or in a retrogressed category.

you can change the address that USCIS have so all documents come straight to you - I would recommend this - there is less delay and no chance of the RFE being lost in the lawyers office.I just had a RFE for copies of my childrens birth certificate. They send you an orange form you have to send back which will give your answer priority.

You'll have a golden color paper with your application info, then there will be a list of things that you are required to submit on another paper.

Make a copy of those papers for your record, but put the orinal (golden) paper on top of everything, or it will be dalayed processing. Also, try to arrange your supporting docs, as the officer listed. If employer letter is the first item on the list, put it on top of everything, below the officer's list.

Even if you have time mailing it to the officer after collecting all the docsuments, try to mail it Fedex overnight. It will cost you, maybe over $35, but it gives an importance, that you are really serious (ofcourse we all are).

I was delayed as my former company's corporate lawyer got the RFE notice and did not notify me until 2 weeks after. Meanwhile, I am registered with the online case status. So, I saw my I485 case status changed and I am checking my mail everyday for that.

Anyway, if you get online notice (email or so), contact your lawyer inquiring if he has received RFE.

What else... after mailing, keep the receipt safe, you may need it in the future. Some common elements are good to include although the officer did not ask for it, fo example, copy of all of your approval notices, copy of EAD, etc. I made some color copies, that clarifies a lot of things. My I-94 is 10 years old. Yes, I didn't go back home in ten years. Anyway, there was question about my I-94 as the ink wasn't clear for the digit 6, it looks like 8 in B&W copy, but the color copy makes it more clear.

I can't think of anything else now. Good luck.

Thank you all for sharing the info. Best wishes to your cases... Sorry for late reply, no internet access for me yesterday.
sarasota, for your question: yes, I am from a retrogressed country and guess no approval for me for several years. But I responded to the RFE through overnigt mail anyway just to make myself feel better. If your petition was filed by your attorney of record, the RFE will be sent directly to him/her. But the attorney should send you an copy of the RFE promptly. If not, I suggest you to request one for record.
sillious_mk: thank you very much for the response. for some reason, I do not have the golden color paper with application info. that you mentioned. No such thing for my I-140 RFE either. Maybe it is category or country dependent...? I just Did not go home for 10 years? 7 years here... The visa and green card things really discust me but a lot more tough people in this forum who experienced way more pain than me so do not want to complain too much...
I just received an email from INS that my RFE response was received yesterday. Online status also indicate so. But I do not know if anything will happen in the near future since I am from a retrogressed country... Any idea?
