I485 Interview but Sponsor Died??? Help Plz

Hi,
My father applied I130 in 2001 for me which was approved and I filed I485,I765 in April 2006. Now I had received the usual document for finger prints and done them and for EAD and am working. Now I received my interview letter today but the problem is that my dad (the petitioner for me) passed away in Jan, 2007.

Now what do I do? My mother and father became citizens in 2006 so now can my mother substitute my father at this stage? If so what is the procedure for it and what is the expected wait time? Please guide me in the right direction. My interview date is July,2007.

does the sponsor need to be present at the interview for a parent-request-son GC?

Since the I-130 was approved prior to the petitioner's death, it looks to me like the petition can be transferred so long as another qualifying relative submits an affidavit of support.

boatbod -- thank you for the very informative link.

PraetorianXI -- no the sponsor is not required at the interview according to the letter I received however sponsor's birth certificate and proof of residency or citizenship is required. Furthermore we have already submitted Affidavit of support documents with the initial application , my father hadn't been working due to illness so my mother and sister gave that but he also signed one.

Firstly sorry to hear about your father's demise. Secondly, your I-485's continuation is not automatic. USCIS can (and will) make the determination if they want to continue it under their discretion. I hope you get your GC. Good luck!!!
