I485/Biometrics Issues?

GoEagles said:
Following on to my earlier question.

In brief, I received biometrics notice for myself, but not for my wife. So what I want to know is if its possible that USCIS officer would agree to take her biometrics as well when I go for mine? Anyone with same kinda problem? My lawyer suggested that there are 50-50 chances that officer may take, anyone with first hand experience?

Cheers...

I read (I think on the Murthy Board) that several people tried that and weren't successful. My lawyer told me when we got our notice for biometrics that they are normally not willing to do any kind of changes (other day, bring somebody else etc.) because that involves often a lot of additional paperwork. But you could always try, the worst case is that they say no and yout wife has to go again later when she receives her notice.

Man you wouldn't believe me, but I am in the same boat.
Got my notice, nothing for wife. Appointment is in a week. Called VSC today (selected option "filed several applications together, got separated"). An officer looked into their computer system and told me that our files are processed together and my wife may get her FP notice soon.

A couple of my friends had the same situation here, their notices came in the mail separately, but the appointment was scheduled the same date.

I do not think it's possible to come without a notification, but you may try your luck and come together, it will not hurt you in any way.

Hope our spouses will get their papers soon.

The best of luck!

Gpnl_dl, It's the same story here, my appointment is on coming monday! My suspicion is that they did not change my wife's address on the file (as am now in TSC, and have been asked to fingerprint in the local office here). Called NCSU today and was told that they can't do anything except for to send an inquiry about her address change and call in 30 days if you do not hear anything!

In my notice, I've been asked to appear coming monday, interestingly, they also wrote if you can't not make it on that day, then you can appear on any Wednesday's at the same time but before Nov. 10!

The problem we've is my wife needs to go out of country for few months, so if the notice came while she is gone, it's gonna mess up her whole trip! Any advice on how to deal with this?

Gpng_dl: What do you mean by: selected option "filed several applications together, got separated".

We need some goodluck here!

When you call 1-800 ## for National Center, you may select option 6 (to check on the status of application). Then you enter your receipt number and hear their recorded message. After that, you chose option 3 ("to proceed to the next step") and you have another menue. From this list of options, you chose option 3 (but I am not sure, I think it's 3), and it says like: "If you filed several applications together, but received letters or approvals only for some of them and you feel like your applications are separated". A recorded message like that. You select this option and you get connected with an officer in YOUR center (according to your receipt number). I spoke to a lady who was very polite and willing to help, so my experience was pretty good, and all my questions got answered.

Gpng_dL: really it was very helpful. Called USCIS and been told that notice has not yet been issued to my wife because no appointments are available at the local office, so it will come eventually!

Also, got this info to schedule infopass appointment for my wife (which I did for the same day as I've biometrics!) to request them to take her biometrics before she goes outta country! Let's see if this works!

Another thing, our 485's are now in TSC custody!

I am glad to hear this!

Would you please update this thread next week and share your experience with Infopass appointment for your wife?

Thank you in advance!

Gpng_dl and folks:

Went for fingerprinting this morning, took less than 15 minutes. They could not take my wife's biometrics as there computers were down!

Been told to wait for 2-3 weeks, otherwise come back and they can try taking it. I'm little skeptical about that now if they would do without notice as we're now in the local office which is in TSC (i.e., they may not have our files, yet?)

Let me know your side of story!

Cheers...

More trouble...

Guys need advice, so please read n reply!

Today I learnt that my wife's fingerprinting notice was sent to our old address in VSC and was asked to appear in the past (Aug 26, 2005). The attorney has received a copy of that and she is gonna fedex today! Now, what options do we have:

1) Make a trip to VSC area (>1300 miles) and request them to take fingerprints,

2) Take this notice at our local office here, in TSC, and request them to do this, or

3) Ask CIS to issue a new notice?

Would appreciate quick replies!

Thanks a mil!

I would try Option 2 first and see what happens. Try to talk to their supervisor officer. If they refuse to take her biometrics, you can always go for a trip back to VSC localty. I do not think it would be any problem over there due to a missed appointment.

The best of luck!

Thanks Guys,

I'll update how it goes next week after I make a trip to the local office.

Cheers and have a wonderful long weekend!

Shouldn't your attorney be able to help you in this case and give you the best advice ?
