I485 approval dates are changing with new dates

Today I noticed some change by TSC in I 485 approved cases. The cases which were approved in November have new date with changed message.

November message -
This case has been approved. On November 21, 2003, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.


New message (for the same case)
On December 9, 2003, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

Is this new step towards getting cards faster or software messup?

My colleague got his approval around Nov 13. He got passport stamped the next day. His card came in the mail a couple of days back. It just took about 22 days after stamping.
 
It appears as if it is information about the plastic card itself. This would be the next step after approval.
