I485 and Marriage

I am planning to apply for my 485. I am still single going to get married in Jan. My Lawyer asked me to wait till i am maried and my wife is here. He says, if i apply for 485 now and get married latter there might be a problem for my wifes GC and thats a risk he says. Is there any one who applied 145 and got married latter and got their Green card please post ur experience

No risk.

Of course it depends on the service center too. But I have not heard approval in 3 months yet. Ask you lawyer to send the application Now. After you receive the receipt, you can send your wife's 485 to INS. I presume you have valid H or L visa .

I am on H1, it will expire SEp03. My Marriage date is fixed. My I140 has been approved like 2 years ago and am waiting for the marriage . Now that it is fixed i wanted to apply for 485 and go get married.I talked to the lawyer this morning and he told me to wait till my marriage is over and my spouse is in here. We will not be back till march which is like 5 months away
I even told him that i will delay FP if Possible
