I485 and H4 visa validity for travel

My wife has filed for AOS and she has done her finger printing. She wants to go to India now (we haven\'t filed AP). Her visa on the passport has expired. But she has the Visa extension papers (I797) valid till Aug 2003. Can she revalidate the visa @ madras US consulate ?
Ps: She is till on H4 status..

hi,
u can send it to Washington DC for pp stamping, but u need to send a copy of u\'r I797(H1 paper) also as she is a dependant. Mine I797 form was sent back to me from st.louis requesting additional information(i.e I797 form of primary applicant).I am not sure exactly whether we sent a photocopy or original form.she might need to take this even if u\'r option is going to madras counsulate.
