I am a F-1 student but my I-20 had already expired since June 1st, 04. (I actually talked to my previous international specialist about extend my student visa 6 months before my I-20 expiration date in Jan. She told me that she will extend for me. Later on I was told by school my visa was never extend and had already expired) I was told by my school to transfer to a different college, which I did transfered to a different 2 yr college by the end of July. 2 weeks after that I have already enrolled and paid my 12 units nonresident tutition, my international specialist from my current school had just called me n told me that my previous school had make a mistake on my status while released me. She said that my previous school had put my status as completed in SEVIS system; she said completed means that I have already get a degree from previous school but I actually have not complete the program) However, I went back to my previous school n asked them to fix it for me but they are giving me a different info. My previous school told me that there is no mistake n actually the SEVIS system automatically put my status as completed since I passed the 60 days of time to transfer n they told me to ask my current school to reinstate me. I explained my situation to my current school and asked school specialist to reinstate me but she refused because she believed the previous school had make a mistake and telling me the wrong infomation thus she refused to help me. Now i really dont know what to do since both schools are blaming on each other, giving me different info and refusing to help me. I really need big help because i almost done with my degree if everything goes well I am suppose to graduate next semester. I have been work really hard tryin to gain my college degree for this past 8 years so can someone help me by givin me any helpful info or advice. I will be very appreciate.
Thank you!!!!!!

has it been more than 60 days between the day your old I-20 has expired and the day that your SEVIS record was released by the old school (to the new school) and you got a new I-20?

Did your old I-20 expire in Jan or June? You are not clear on that.

If it has been less than 60 days, then you were within your grace period and the old school should have released your SEVIS record and you shoud have been in status all this time.

if it expired in Jan, then you have been out of status for more than 5 months and reinstatement would prove difficult.

Thank you for your replied...
It has been more than 60 days between the day my old I-20 expired and the day that my SEVIS record was released by the old school. My old I-20 expiration date was on June 1, 04 and my old school did not release me until August 11, 04. Now, I had already transferred and paid for 12-units tuition to the new school for 2 weeks. However, they told me since my old school has stated my status as completed, they will not be able to issue I-20 for me unless my old school correct the status from my record in SEVIS system. My old school refused to correct it for me and believed that the new school should be the one reinstate me. I really don’t know what to do. Anyone know anything can solve my problem.
Thank you…
