I130/I485 case transfer to service center, why?

I filed I485/I130 package for my parents to Chicago Lockbox the same time in early Novermer, 05. My Mom's case is normal. Today she received a interview notice which says the interview will be in San Francisco office in March 06.

But my father's case is odd. Today he received one notice, says his I-485 has been transfered to California service center. I received one notice, says my I-130 petition is transfered to Californian Service Center.

Does anyone know why this is happening? How come CIS treat my father and my mother's application differently? What will happen to my father's case? Does CIS miss something here?

Thanks.

Ding

Hi, Ding!
Your story sounds almost similar to mine.
I filed one I-498 for myself and one for my son, both sponsored by my husband.
Our files got separated in the process for some reason.
Several months later we got appointment notice for son and transfer notice (to TSC) for me. I wrote and sent two certified letters, one to my local DO, another to MSC asking to reunite our files (they are suppose to keep family members together!).
Haven’t heard back from anybody.
When we went to my son’s interview – they told us they cannot approve him ahead of me and send his file back to the Service Center.
Good news – two month later (after the transfer) we got two interview letters, same day and time.

Now, in your case - since you don’t know any reasons why would they treat your father differently then your mom - means they probably separated your parents’ files by mistake.
When I got my transfer notice, it said they were transferring for “faster processing” which turned out to be the opposite in my case.
You can try to contact your local DO and ask to schedule your papers together (good luck with that). But in any case I don’t think your mom’s GC will have to wait for your dad’s case transferred back to your local DO. It’s different process for parents then for spouses.

Parents Case Transferred to an office in CSC

All,
Today I received an email from USCIS abt my parents case. I got two identical emails , one for I-130 or I-485. I am here with enclosing the I-130 email.

Does this mean the case was transffered to CSC or local Office in CSc (which is Los Angeles)? CSC Processes the I-130 and I-485 are processed by LA Office. Can anybody throw more light what I can expect?
Thanks for your reply. Timelines are in the signature .
Thanks in advance for all your help.

What does this mean? Gurus, Please reply what I can expect?

I got a second emil today for the I-130/485 I filed with MSC. The email reads as follows. The same kind of email is also receivedd by me for my parents I-485.

Back ground -
I filed I-130, 131, 485 to Chicago Lock box. Few days back, I recd email from the automated system that my case is transferred to Californoa Service Center for Processing. Now, with another five days , I get this second email. My time lines are in the signature.

What does this mean? Does it mean we really have to wait for 900 days?

Appreciate your input. Thank you.

Your Input appreciated

All,
Thanks for your input. I have recd. a letter in the mail in the USPS today. It is the same letter for I-130 and I-485. It reads as follows-

This is to advise you that in order to speed processing we have transferred the above case to the floowing INS office for processing-

That office will notify you the made on the application or petition. Any further inquiries should be made to the office.

Quick question for all of you-
1) Can I expect a decision on the case in about 60-90 days?
2) What has been your experinces with CSC? Your input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Bye and regards,

No, it doesn't. It's a standard message they send to everyone.

Simidude,

My friend's moms' case:
NOA: Sep 22, 2005
FP on 11/30
RFE for NonAvailability in Dec '05
Case Transferred to CSC on 1/6
I-130 and AOS on 1/12
card received on 1/26

Even their online status after transferred to CSC said the same thing about taking 999 days :) . By the way, she comes under TSC/Atlanta DO jurisdiction.

I hope this timeline might solve your mystery.

needurhelp, thanks for sharing the timeline for your friend's mom's case. So she received AOS/GC without interview? That is great and pretty fast (4 months in all). May I ask you a couple of things
- Was everything filed concurrently to Chicago lockbox?
- Was AP, EAD requested with the application?
- Did they even respond to RFP? Seems like AOS took place without that.
- Are they transferring many cases to CSC for faster processing? Or it just depends? Does it have anything to do with whether EAD. AP were requested or not?

Thanks.

YES

- Was AP, EAD requested with the application?.
Only AP

They responded to the RFE, only after that they transferred to CSC.

- Are they transferring many cases to CSC for faster processing? .
Looks like parents cases are as they don't have to go thru the excriciating process of proving that we are their children, REALLY!!!!

Or it just depends? Does it have anything to do with whether EAD. AP were requested or not?.
The dependency, I'm not sure. My friend's and simi_dude's cases are similar though they belong to different SC/DO. They both applied for the AP and not for EAD whereas I applied for EAD and not AP. Time will tell.

One more thing that I observed is, if the case is transferred to CSC though you do not belong to their SC, no interview. :)

I hope I was helpful instead of confusing you.

Thanks

Needurhelp, thanks for the info. I hope parents' GC applications go through quickly (without interview) for everyone.

Thanks for your reply - Questions on Web site Status

Needuehelp,
Thanks for the info you provided about your friend's mom case.
I have couple of questions.
1) Was your friend able to track the I-130, 485, 131 on the USCIS Case Status website?
2) If the answer is yes, did the message change after the 130, 485 are approved? What did the mesage change to.

As far as my parent's case in concerned, I am able to see the info on the USCIS web site. I am curious what happens to the status ( like it disappers or Case NOt found as seen in Naturalization cases etc.). Please let me know. Thanks in advance for all your help.
If I see the same scenario playing out for my parent ( as your friend's mom case), my parent should see approval next week. Let us see what happens.
Thanks again.
Bye and regards,

Press Realease from USCIS abt casetransfer to CSC

I am her with cutting andmpating the press release as I di not know how to attach the same. Hope it helps.
Thanks

Press Office
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
December 13, 2005 (rev. 1/26/06) Statement Receipts Issued from the California Service Center (CSC) Some U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) customers may receive a receipt or transfer notice from the California Service Center (CSC) for cases they filed with local District Offices in the USCIS Western, Central, or Eastern Region or with the National Benefits Center. This is occurring because, in the context of backlog elimination, some cases that are unlikely to require an interview have been transferred from district offices with longer backlogs to the California Service Center where there is greater existing adjudications capacity. These transfer notices reflect receipt by the CSC of a case that has been transferred there to be adjudicated, rather than original receipt of the case by USCIS. For newly filed cases, customers may receive their first receipt notice from CSC, rather than the National Benefits Center or the District Office. • Case types include the following: • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Resident or Adjust Status; Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative; Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence; Form N-565, Application for Replacement of Citizenship Document; and Form N-600, Application for Certification of Citizenship. For I-485, I-130, N-565, and N-600 cases, affected applicants will receive a notice from the CSC with a receipt number. This notice confirms that the case has been successfully entered into the electronic database. Please refer to the new CSC receipt number if you need to inquire about the case. For I-751s, customers will not receive a new receipt and may first learn of the transfer of their case through a Request for Evidence. While processing a relocated case, the CSC may determine that additional information or documentation is needed before a final decision can be made. USCIS would like to remind ALL applicants that it is very important to pay close attention to the return address noted on all requests for additional information or documentation, to ensure that the response is sent to the correct USCIS location. Approval notices will reflect the original filing (priority) date. Please allow 180-days before inquiring in reference to the status of these cases. For additional information, contact the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. USCIS www.uscis.gov

Supporting document for AP when filed concurrently

SimiDude, a quick question for you.

When filing AP (I-131) concurrently with I-485 in the same package, did you include additional copy of I-485 alongwith I-131? Or the fact that it is filed concurrently with I-485 is good enough (since receipt notice I-797 would not be available yet).

Thanks. Good luck with your parent's application.

I've been waiting for you to check my response and update about urs. Well, better late than never, right!!

Anyways coming to the point:

simidude said:
1) Was your friend able to track the I-130, 485, 131 on the USCIS Case Status website?
She was able to track her status online.

2) If the answer is yes, did the message change after the 130, 485 are approved? What did the mesage change to.

For I-130 the status said that it was approved on Jan12, 2006 but for the I-485, it said that the receipt is incorrect or case not found. Within a week she received the welcome package and in two weeks the card.

If our calculations are correct, your case should get approved by Feb 6th or so. As you said lets hope for the best and speedy processing. :)

Keep us updated...

DID NOT include copy of the 485.

I did not include copy of the 485. I included supporting doc (i-94 copy, paspport copy) seperately for each form so that is is easy for USCIS reviewer working on the case.
Hope it helps
Thanks
