Hello my friends. Back in January 2006 I sent three i130 applications in for mother, father and brother. I waited till I became a citizen to file the papers. I received 2 letters of receipt for my parents application but no receipt for my brothers. As of August 3rd my fathers was approved my mother hopefully should follow shortly thereafter. However upon speaking to INS they seem to have no record of my brothers application. I sent with delivery confirmation which I am having a hard copy sent to me from USPS and I am tracking the money order which has been cashed back in January 2006. When I receive my hard copy confirmations I will be following up with my little paper trail to tackle this delima. Anyone have any suggestions as to getting my brothers paperwork rectified. Obviously they cashed the money order and someone over there lost paperwork. But as we all know when immigration is wrong they are always supposedly in the right. If anyone out there has any similar experiences i would like to hear your take on it. Also Does anyone know what time frame for visas look like in the caribbean islands.

id think of this as good news. cause if u apply for ur brother it will take him well over 10 yrs to get a freakin green card. my uncle filed for my mum and the rest of fam in 1999, and we still have 2-3 yrs to go. thtt will b like 10 yrs!!!! so i suggest tht u only file for ur parents cause tht will only take about a year and half then once they get citizenship or green card they can apply for ur brother, and ur brother will get greencard in less than 2 years. so it beats waiting over 10 yrs if u file for ur bro. + ur parents can file for ur bro while they have greencard. then once they get citizenship, they have 2 send i the paperwork and they will upgrade his file and it'll come out faster and sooner. so good luck

SaintLucian,

Congratulations your father's I130 approval! Hopefully your mother's I130 will be approved soon. Sorry to hear about your brother's I130. Since you did not get the receipt letter, its hard to track it. Also it was paid by money order. A personal check gives you more control. Cancelled check tells you who cashed it, CIS or someoneelse. Cancelled check also gives you CIS receipt # on the back.

Anyway you could have followed up with CIS when you did not get receipt letter in reasonable time by calling, INFOPASS etc. You may want to do it now.

Which service center did you send I130s to? Thanks.

Went to vermont service center. Spoke with a representative at the service center and said that they put the receipt number on the back of the money order also. Good thing is that for a small fee(which there always is) I can send a check for $12 dollars to IPS(integrated payment systems) which keeps records for western union and they will send me a copy of the front and the back of the cashed money order. I can only hope a USCIS rep followed procedure and put a receipt number on there. Will find out in a few days. And trust me-I learnt my lesson for the first and last time with ins. I keep names/Id numbers etc now like a pack rat. Thank you guys for your response. As always any help is appreciated.

Saintlucian,

Thanks for the reply. So you filed I130s at Vermont Service Center in Jan 06 and one was approved in Aug (i.e. in about 7 months) with the other two pending. It has been more than 6 months for my I130s at VSC. I hope our I130s will be approved soon.

I hope you are able to find out the receipt # for your brother's I130.
