Hello,
My wife petitioned on my behalf in the UK, at the local embassy. The I130 application was approved by the DHS and the approval letter indicated the department of state would now handle the petition. Having read various texts from the visa and Embassy web sites, as my wife and I are residing in the UK, she a U.S. citizen and I a UK citizen, our application will be handled locally (London Embassy). The problem is; since receiving the notice of approval from the DHS, we have received nothing else for 6 months, not even an acknowledgement from the state department about the existence of our application. The only contact information available is a mailing address, to which I sent a letter asking for some clarification of the status of the petition. I included a stamped, self addressed envelope, but received nothing.

The only stage we have completed is filing the I130 with the relevant documents and paying the petition fee. Is there something else we missed that is causing our petition to be ignored?

Is there somewhere where we may get some acknowledgement that our petition is still active and not just lost in the bureaucracy?

Are there any steps we can take to speed up the process, or in our case, kick start it?

I appreciate the immigration service will be busy and may not have the resources to correspond to every letter, but should we have expected at least the information pack and an immigrant number by now?

Any information or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I had similar experience , in my case CSC approved the I-130 petition but NVC says that they have not received any communication from CSC about the approval and surprisingly even the USCIS online status show that my petition is still under process and this is one month after I received my approval letter from CSC.

Looks like there is something going on which is causing these delays , I am frustated because I am unable to get any information on what is causing this delay.

You can go through my experience in below thread.

Just an update on this; I phoned the Embassy to be told the I130 was approved on October 14th and the DOS sent a package to my home on October 19th.
I have been waiting for 5 months for a package they either did not send, or the post office did not deliver!

Considering I have no problem receiving mail from every man and his dog, I find the coincidence that perhaps the most important mail I will ever receive fails to turn up for one reason or another too great to be accidental. That said, I can now proceed with the rest of the process and hopefully can get on with my life instead of living with the uncertainty of when or if I'll be contacted by the visa bureaucrats.

My advice to anyone applying for a visa to the U.S. is this; once you've received your I130 approval (or whatever approval your visa requires) from Department of Homeland Security, do NOT wait for the next contact they are supposed to initiate. Instead, find out what forms and documents you will need for the next stage and get on with the process of sending those off. If you've not been contacted within a month of your DHS approval, phone your visa services location for a status update.

I was patient as was requested by the documentation I read from the various visa services sources (Embassy web site, USCIS etc) and look where it got me? If it was left to the visa services, I would never have been dealt with.

Good luck to all eligible petition applicants. Let's all make the U.S. that little bit better.
