I wish there was a sticky on re-entry permit

Considering so many people ask questions, and frankly, I did try doing a search on that topic but couldn't find anything that was recent.

Jackolantern, Triplecitizen and others, so I'm about to file I-131 electronically, but being pressed for time because of some personal urgency, I need to expedite my biometrics.

So let's say I file the form today. Mail them the money order for the required amount. What other documentation do I need to mail along with the fee? Anything, or just a copy of my GC? That's where a sticky would be so helpful in showing step-by-step process, do's and dont's.

How do I request expedited fingerprinting, if that's even possible? Do I have to request it separately or just add a letter to the mailing envelope to USCIS?

Please advise. And in case I have not said this before, you guys are truly remarkable in that you help your fellow posters out by sharing some very useful information on this forum. I have benefitted from that before. Thank you all for that.

wow, nothing?

Also, it appears that a permanent resident cannot e-file 1-131, it has to be paper based?

I suggest applying on paper using Express Mail or FedEx or something. Add a cover letter explaining your circumstances, and follow the rest of the expediting instructions they provide. If you ask for your application to be expedited, it will be assumed that all parts need to be expedited, including biometrics. Good luck. I think you have to include the application, the cheque, a copy of your GC and proof of urgent travel needs (cover letter, other documentation like letter from your company or doctor, etc.).

I don't think you'll have success with requesting expedited fingerprinting. However, with the reentry permit they're not as strict as with Advance Parole; for the permit you are allowed to leave the US right after USCIS receives the application, as long as you return to the US for the fingerprint appointment.

And you can do the fingerprinting a bit earlier than the scheduled appointment by doing a walk-in. Once you get the appointment notice, just show up at the office and ask them to take you in. They're not guaranteed to accept you, it is up to their discretion to allow the walk-in or not, but generally if they aren't very busy they'll accept a walk-in.

It appears the process is very straightforward and the instructions are very clear on uscis.gov. I'm only confused that when you begin the process of e-filing, it does say that I-131 is an application that can be filed online but when you go a few pages down, it says this form cannot be e-filed.

Has anybody e-filed I-131 recently and if so, how?

Thanks!
