My status was changed to following today:

On April 26, 2004, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in BOSTON, MA for processing. That office has jurisdiction over the case. They will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 to receive information about local office processing times.

I am worried, seems that all the time (rd/nd is feb'02) my case was lying with TSC for no reason and they transferred my case to Boston and it will restart processing. I feel this becos it seems that they say

"That office has jurisdiction over the case."

I am not sure. Can anyone comment on it?

Thanks

I think its because your location is boston they transferred it to your local office.. that is what they mentioning about the jurisdiction.

But i am not sure why they are transferring only certain cases incase of applicants are moved out of TSC. I am in the similar situation filed in TSC(09/02) but moved out of TSC. So far my case is still with TSC but you never know.

Regarding processing times, it may cause furhter delay when they transfer to local offices like this..

Good luck

boston!

When I filed my 485 I was in Atlanta and then I moved to Boston. That's why the case have been transferred to Boston.

four80five

Just spoke to lawyer and he said it is good thing that your case is being processed and I don't know if it is going to be slow or fast. I was hoping that it will be approved soon. But after all those years of waiting they transferred it to local office.

But I am still better(atlease I hope so) as my case has been transferred to local office, otherwise sometimes they transfer cases to Service Centers, which is even worse.

Don't know what's happening. Probably in next few weeks, I will go to Boston ofifce and find out what's happening with my case. Lawyer said Boston office is good and helping... :)

called uscis

I called USCIS and they said my rd/nd will be preserved and right now Boston local office is processing Aug'03 so based on my rd/nd feb'02, they will be sending me interview letter. How soon? Well, file transfer from TSC to Boston will take 30 days and it will take 30 more days for Boston office to schedule interview. I hope everything happens before my FP gets expired.

hgc,
Why are you so sure that you have to do an interview? I kind of feel your online message is different from the case transferred for interview. So far, the most common online message for interview is:
On blah blah date, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to our office in ***local office for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. Our office in ***will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case. If you need further information, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

Maybe you will see your approval very soon without an RFE or interview. Please keep up posted.

Good luck!

Thanks tombaan, tammy2 and Safari_TSC

Safari_TSC as you pointed out, that my message is different, that's what made me think something is fishy. USCIS mentioned abt the jurisdiction, that made me think that USCIS thinks that the lawyer filed the case in wrong Service Center. But after talking to Lawyer and NCSC and seeing the post here, seems that it may not be the case and it is just normal transfer to local office for interview or as Safari_TSC mentioned no interview.

Whatever comes I will keep you posted.

hgc,

Do not worry. In fact, it is a good news. Nowadays TSC is in a hurry to process case and many are transferred to local office. Your RD is preserved. The processing times in local offices differ. e.g. Atlanta is currently processing Apr 01 cases (worst than TSC). As long as your date is before the local published date, you are fine. You will get stamping in a month.

I moved to Kansas and currently my I-485 (RD: 09/2003) is still lying with INS,Texas. No FP yet.
If they move my file, will they send it to my local Kansas office or to INS,Nebraska ?
Local Kansas office- PT is 09/03 for I-485.

PKSVS - Hope you sent the AR11 (Change of Address) form AND called the 1-800 number to change your address in your I-485 petition? If that be the case, if your case is transferred, it will be sent to a district office near your home in Kansas. longGC,

I am sure you are wrong about this. For example, Dallas local office processing time is March 2003. I think it means that the local office is now processing cases that were transferred to them in March 2003. So, a transfer to the Dallas local office means another year of wait, no matter what your I-485 original ND/RD is. So, most applicants whose cases are transferred are screwed.

Other than Jaysee, I have not seen anyone who was transferred approved. Seems to be the lucky exception.

Regards.

They are processing the application with March 2003 RD. This is your I-485 receipt date not transfer date. If some one is transferred to Dallas there is fair chance of getting interview soon.

update

I received my transfer notice in mail today. INS transferred it to local office in Boston at JFK bldg.

I called up the number mentioned on the notice to test if it is working, and as I guessed, it is not.
