I served 7 years Active US Army. Will this help me to become a US citizen?

I served in the US-ARMY from 08/1981-08/1985 then I served again from 02/1987-02/1990.

Was wondering if this will help me become a US citizen... I get confused reading instructions... I did not serve during any time of conflict.

If it does help? What must I do besides the N-400?

Thanks
Rudy

It will not speed up application processing but it will certainly help establish
strong ties to the US , or win a soft spot with the interviewer

iT WON'T HELP... :((

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS if not served in times of conflict are:

1. Served Honorably for a minimum of 1 year. (I DID 8 YEARS honorable 1981-1989 )
2. A permanent Resident. ( I GOT MY GREEN CARD IN 1975 )
3. File for application while in active duty OR 6 months after separation.( This is where I fail TO QUALIFY - I EXITED ARMY IN 1990 )

This Sucks... lol, was hopring I can get FEES waived.. hehehehe

Unfortunatelly, it will not help much in your case ;)

However, if you were still in the Army, you could naturalize right away (did not have to wait 5yrs after GC). Of course, even in this case, you always have to wait for USCIS to process your application just like any other applicant.

Good luck!

P.S.: I'm not a lawyer. I'm not an immigration expert. You are soley responsible for your actions.
