Dear all ,

i am new member here and i like to thank everyone for the information you provide which is really helpful.

I have some questions and i hope you guys got the answers

1- my place of birth in the passport is missing one letter but in my birth certificate and University degree and other documents it is correct , now should i enter the place of birth as it is on the passport ( with the mistake ) or enter the one on the Birth certificate and other documents?

2- i am from sudan (sudanese passport and nationality) and i was born in uae ( Birth certificate from UAE) , which country should i choose when applying ( country of eligibility) ? Sudan or UAE?

Appreciate your help guys!

Use the accurate version of the place of birth. You can always show that name on a map...

For your eligibility you would normally enter the UAE since they ask about your nativity. You may be able to claim another country (Sudan) based on parents being temporarily in UAE, but the easiest option is UAE.

thanks Mr.Britsimon for the reply , i really appreciate it.

anymore inputs from other members?

UAE is in Asia region while Sudan is in Africa. Historically the chance for Africans to be selected is about twice of Asians. If your parents were born in Sudan, you can pick it as country of chargeability.

Careful with that. The choice to select the parents country for chargeability relies on them being in the foreign country temporarily (or longer term at the direction of a multinational organisation). So - if you can prove that they were there on a short term assignment then that is acceptable to use Sudan, but if you cannot prove that their stay was temporary then you could lose out.

Britsimon nailed it. Be careful with picking Sudan (based on parents nativity) as the chargeability country. You will need to prove parents temporary stay in UAE at the time of your birth if you select Sudan. But of course if you're married to a person born in Sudan, then you can pick Sudan.

That's right, my explanation wasn't complete. As long as your parents are not residents of your country of birth, you can use their country for chargeability.
