I had my interview this morning but...?

well my IO told me that he had recommended approval but he has to do background check before approving the application. Have you ever claimed to be U.S citizen ? have you ever used your hubby social security number for work ? if you have not done anything wrong so you dont have to worry about it.

I remember a case in which the IO told the beneficiary that you are approved but he never even got the approval letter and his application is still pending coz he used his wife social security number to find work and some how the USCIS came to know about it after background check. I hope you do not have the same situation.

faddu630, no. I have never claimed to be a US citizen, or used my hubby's SSN for work.

Maybe it will take a few more days. I remember asking "If I want to change my green card name to my married name, what happens then?" And he said "It will take me at least a month to approve it, since I would have to run the background checks again."

Question then, does the background check happen before or after the interview?

No soft touches on my I-485 application either based on the online system. It still says last updated date is 10/5/10.

to Jackolantern & Namecheckvictim:

I entered US as an H4, then got out of status for more or less than 5 years and now married to USC 1 year this month.

Are we going to have a problem? Like how come I overstay for that long and now why im married to USC?

My husband had 2 kids with exgf abroad. I never met the kids but he mentioned them to me. Saw their pics at fb.

Will the IO take it against me if I forgot the kids birthday and miss their actual age?

Please advise.

jaykat28,

Please start your own thread, and provide more details of your situation ... did you enter with H4 as a child of an H1B holder, or as their spouse? Have you filed the I-485 yet? If yes, have you been interviewed yet? Have you left the US since losing your H4 status?

Has there been any cases where the Online Status doesn't change at all? Like some sort of system glitch? Mine has not changed, not even a soft touch! It still says Oct 5, 2010 for my I-485.

I have made an infopass appointment for Dec 9, but feel silly going there and asking for a stamp on my passport when I have not received a welcome letter (or email) yet. Just the verbal from my IO.

Should I even bother? Or should I just wait?

The only thing i can understand is they are doing the background check and that what is taking the time. If the application is not approved yet info pass is useless. Most of the time there is an interview people had seen soft touches on the i485 and i130 if not on the same date then probably the other day then. I had the same thing my interview was on 21st October but got the card production email the next day after the interview.

You will be the first person in USCIS history to try to force a decision in less than 8 business days. Prepare for further frustration at the info pass. All you need to do, is to move-on and live life and don't worry about this issue, time and some IO will eventually do what they are paid to do, give you a decision at the appropriate time. Unless you want to continue to be eaten alive by this case, continue to be frustrated. I am convinced that nothing anyone or anybody on this forum will say which will placate your impatience. Have you ever read of people who were waiting for 2-4 years for USCIS to act on their cases? Yours is a minor issue.

You are right Al. I have been obsessing about this for the past two days. Time to stop.

I will cancel my infopass and promise to not check my email (or this forum) more than 2x a day.

Time to go Christmas shopping! :)

Update!!!

I got a letter in the mail yesterday from the USCIS! It was the letter that our IO made me and hubby sign regarding the removal of conditions! :) It reads that the green card was granted on 12/10/2010 and I should file form I-751 between 9/10/2012 and 12/09/2012.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!

Just also, an FYI, my online status NEVER changed! Last soft touch 10/05/10!

This is great news!! I wish you could have believed us from the onset, life is grandeur now... Let the travel plans begin...

Thank you so much Al!

Life is indeed grand. :) Funny how I just forgot about it and was resigned to the fact I wouldn't get to go home for the holidays. And then voila! This morning I checked our mail, and there it was. :)

This forum has been such a big help. Thanks so much to everyone! :)
