I went to local office, I was there very early as suggested by some members. It was a smooth and very nice, no questions were asked beside a copy of my drivers license. The officer was nice enough to let me go and get a copy.

To share a feeling with you it seems to me that my experience was a long one. I also understand everyone's pain and impatience.
I see it now like a movie and all what you need to remember is the end.

to answer a last question no more evidence was required beside the biographic form.

My question does anyone know what is the time framer to get the plastic card.

It's hard to say. We'd like to think that the waiting game is over after we got our approvals stamped but it really isn't. I can take 3-12 months to get your actual plastic card depending on how efficient your local office is and the service center your card is coming from. The official word from BCIS is "You can expect to receive the card within one year from the day your approval is stamped." But I've seen a woman at my local office who was angrily complaining to the IIO because her card hasn't came in after 1yr. One person in this person got his card in 3 months but the BCIS clowns didn't backdate his card so he had to send it back for correction.

It's a real pain dealing with BCIS.

Dear Welder! What did you get stamped? Your national passport or a simple white I-94 card saying that you are a permanent resident?

I went to local office to stamp my passport after my approval in June 2003, the officer told me that plastic card takes 12-18month to process. She also said that if 12 month has passed and it is getting closer to my stamp expiration date, I should stop by the office again to renew the stamp. I guess this statement proves (JackIsBack) story about the lady which didn't recieve the card after one year.

The process of GC stamping.

Friends,
I received a letter to go for stamping.
Please someone who went for GC stamping answer my questions, if you will be so kind.
If I do not want my expired national passport or RTD be stamped, will be they OK to give me paper card like !-94? Or they have to stamp RTD if I have one?
Are they giving that stamped paper card with photo at the same day you come for stamping, or you have to wait for them to send it by the mail again?

Thanks a lot.:)

To TOMOCHKA,

I did have my passport stamped, but I know two friends who decided to have the card instead. The process is the same and takes about 10 minutes. Instead of stamping your passport, they fill your information in the card (name, Allien #,approval date), stamp the card, and attach your picture to it.

Just tell them straight out that you dont want to get your passport stamped ?? Or make excuse like you lost your passport ???

I got stamped!

I came to local INS very early (thank you, guys, for good advise!), so I got stamped by 10.15 am already.
Good advise was also: to take 3 pictures(letter says 2).
They asked me to show expired national passport, took original entry departure card(I-94) from there (It's a pity for me, I am not even sure I have a copy somewhere), took another I-94, the last one I had for entering USA. I did not show RTD. She did the separate card for me and put "Employment Authorized", "Traveling Authorized" (meaning I have to have RTD, probably). Most asylees, waited there, just had there renewed national passports to be stamped.
"Employment Authorized" - I am wondering now, if I have to apply for EAD to get a new job (I have SS without any restrictions, so I did not pay $100 for new EAD few years already. Do not know what to do now).
In few next days after stamping I went to Canada to try my new GC. Nobody even check our documents, when we were entering Canada(the driver was an amer. citizen and he did a tolk). Entering back to USA, I had to show RTD and card stamped. They did not put any additional stamp in my RTD, did not issue any new I-94. Everthng was OK!...
