I got married to a us citizen and have not started the paperwork yet.I need to go to canada to take care of important paperwork there-CAN i go up to canada and return to USA.Will the border patrol refuse me entry if i tell them i am returning to usa to join my spouse?Canadians dont need an I94 form to enter usa so i am wondering if i take a trip up to canada and return to usa if it will show up during immigration checks when i submit my greencard application paperwork...?

thanks

from what I have read on here he doesnt have any yet he hasnt filed any paperwork yet...I have told him if he leaves he is taking a chance on if the ppl at the boarder will let him back thru or not..No promisses if they will tell him he cant come back. You have to becareful about leaving and re entering ...us custom officers do not have to let you re enter...so IF you MUST go then go but just remeber its a 50 50 chance if you get to return or not....

you DO NOT! tell the Border when your coming back from Canada that your going to see your Husband, I would tell them going to visit a friend or something because you are a "Visitor" when you come to the U.S. (same when filling your papers).

I have seen and heard alot of Couples (even Married) get refused from the border and the next thing you know it, your in Customs being questoned and maybe banned for a couple years.

This is True and i'm in the Same boat. I married a US Citizen and leave and work In Canada and i have not yet file the papers. When i cross the border i ALWAYS say to vist a friends or family. I know of @ ladies who told border patrol they were visiting spouses and were denied entry until the sponsorhip wen through. Hope it helps

Are you crossing the border in your own car?.. doesnt the border patrol mark your entry back into the usa each time?
And dont they hold that against you when you have submitted the paperwork? Is it better to cross the border before or after you have started filing paperwork?

Once you file your AOS paperwork you CANNOT leave the US unless you have a AP if you dont have a AP you CANNOT leave the US
