Hi there. Well I cant beleive it but I finally got my oath ceremony!! I still am looking at it in disbelief. It has been one year and half from start to finish. I will give my timeline for those of you who want it.

PD: December 17, 2002
FP: January 25, 2003
Interview: August 12, 2003 (Pending Name Check)
Name Check Approved: October 23, 2003
INS Approved case: January 25, 2004
Oath Ceremony : April 21 2004 (GOD WILLING)

Good luck to you all. I am not sure if going up to the INS last week in person had anything to do with it but here it is. I hope that your journeys all end very positively and very soon!

Casawi

God knows what coz' it did not say name check clear anywhere...went to local INS (Oakland) CA the guy informed that FBI needs additional evidence..of what no one knows and how can BCIS provide additional evidence???

Still no oath letter.......... :(

Oath in SFO,CA

Are there many cases in san francisco california, where the oath letter did not arrive more than six months from the interview date?

I am planning an extended trip(almost one year) to India right after my interview, would it be wise to leave with a re-entry permit?

My Time line
PD: Oct 22,2003
FD: Nov 26,2003
Interview: May 14th,2004
Oath: ???????

Thanks

Well my oath is not in Sherman, it is in Fort Worth Texas. It is in a huge arena so I guess there are going to be plenty of people.

IBM I suggest you go in person to the place where you filed. Take your original receipt with you and inquire about it there. Be persistant because they wanted to turn me away and I told them that I drove 90 miles they let me in. The 1800 Customer Service inquiry really did nothing for me except to tell me things I already knew.

My oath came after almost 8 months after my interview so I am sure some take longer than 6 months. They really have no timeline for the name check.

Congrats

congrats casawi

ibm101, casawi is another example with almost 8 months wait and as he suggested going to your local office won't be a bad idea.

everyone will get his turn sooner or later.

Asathe,

I would wait until you have your interview before planning any trips abroad. In my case I passed my history and written test in August 2003 and due to name check delay was not given my oath until April 2004. You wont know if your case is immediately approved until your interview so I would suggest just wait to book tickets and plan a trip until you are sure when is your oath ceremony.

Casawi

Thanks Casawi,

Yeah, you are right, it makes much more sense to go after my interview. I have booked the tickets to go after my interview. I hope to know when the oath would be on the day of the interview. Also, I got the numbers for the name check and the fingerprinting from this forum. Seems like both the name check and fingerprints check was done and sent to the INS afew days after my fingerprinting.

Thanks again for the information

Question ?

casawi,

What is PD & FP ?

I am still in I751 process, but I am curious about your post. Please tell me more.

thanks...

Well, I am not sure if you are suppose to put the actual date you SENT in your Citizenship Forms, in that case MY priority date would be 12-02-2003. I put the date that I got my RECEIPT from INS, 12-27-2003 hence the PD of Dec 17, 03

another question...

Thanks casawi,

one more question, did you have any traffic citation/tickets ? did they give you hard time about that ?

I have 2 speeding tickets from the past 5 years, I am worried.

My advice..... be honest and precise! They really do not care so much about traffic tickets unless you have so many. When they ask for citations put yes and list the two times you were cited. I dont see any problem in getting your citizenship because of this.....I am sure it is a good deterent though for speeding if that was a requirement...lol. All of us GC holders would be driving 40mph in 65 mph zones.

The officers would think you are a weeny, if anything if you produce a ticket for driving too slowly!:D

Safety???????? :p
