Hello!
I am a Spanish/English translator, specialized as medical interpreter. How can i apply for a work permit?? Do I qualify if a medical related company -Dr's office, mRI facility, etc- wants me as employee??
I really appreciate your answer!!

Do you have a college degree (4 years) ? If yes, you could get a H1b visa by your own right. If no, your options are limited. H4 by itself doesn't allow you to get a work permit.

Yes, I do. I have a 4 year college degree equivalent to a Bachellor of Arts.
My doubt is: under what "qualification" do I apply for a H1?
thanks for your prompt reply!

Hello ...You would first need to have a sponsor from the company making you a job offer.... ie. First you need to have a job offer from a company...

Normally, h1b visa are filled thorugh immigration lawyer who will determine your appropriate LCA (Labor Condition Application) category...THis is anyway least of your problems...

First get a job and then tell your employer to sponsor you for H1b visa

Good luck and all the best

1. Find an employer who needs your skills. It has to be a job where a job description can be fashioned to match your degree.

2. Find an immigration attorney who is able to file an H1b for you (or more precisely can assist the employer by filling out the requisite paperwork)

3. Change your status to H1b

4. Now you can work.

Look for a position with a university or university affiliated hospital. There are only 55 thousand H1b visas available, universities are exempt from this quota.
