I am panicking...HELP ME PLEASE

hi,

My friend refered me to this forum. she said people are very helpful here. I hope I can find some help. I received my oath letter last week, and was shocked to read question 4.

I have been stopped and cited by a cop for a registration expiration violation, and for missing a bumper on my car. Two times, and two tickets. Also although I was wearing my seatbelt, the cop cited me for not wearing a seatbelt. I went to the court because the registration was paid, however because the cop did not show up, all tickets were dismissed. the court clerk handed me a copy of the court docket and minutes saying the tickets were dismissed.

what should i do now? should I take this with me to the ceremony? should I answer no to question 4 since my violation was not a moving violation? should I answer yes? some said you must take CERTIFIED COPIES from the court? Should I do that and how?

HELP...I am confused and worried.

thanks.

What you are saying is hard to believe? Cop gave you citations, when your registation is still valid and for wearing seatbelt? I do not think cop will be stupid enough to give you ticket when registration is still valid.

Look. The tickets that you received will not cause any problem, unless they are serious like DUI. Tell the truth. They will ask you if you got any tickets before the oath. Explain to them and show the proof. All they need is that the proof that you paid the tickets and court disposition reocrds. Get the copies from court, all proof necessary, before you goto oath.

Say yes to question 4. What is there to hide?

I know, I was wearing my seatbelt but took it off when he came near me and was unable to convince him. But i did not have my new registration in the car at the time.

Is it a problem that the tickets were dismissed? I went before the judge to contest the seatbelt charge but the cop did not show up, and everything was dismissed.

Not wearing a seatbelt is a minor offense. I do not know if not keeping a copy of registration in the car may be offense.

Why it will be a problem that the tickets are dismissed? It is decided by court, not by you. You followed the law. INS is interested only whether you paid penalty or not, if there is any for the offenses. Show them the proof given by court.

1. Your case was dismissed Then you don't have any violation. I other words the judge found you NOT GUILTY
2. You have, just in case, your paper from the court to prove it.
3. The only thing I can tell you is: CONGRATULATION you're on your way to be an American Citizen soon. Stop being worry, YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REASON :)

thank you vulpasin and john. today i got certified paper from the court (cost me 40 dollars). i will take it with me.

one other question, should i sign the form n445 now, or should i do it at the ceremony before an officer. the end of the form asks to put the location where i sign the document.

i would suggest you to sign it when you get to the oath.

you never know if you would have any other issues, such as another traffic tickets, or not before oath day.

i do not know they would give a citation "for missing a bumper".

Definitely. And he shouldn't hide that.
But on the other hand, and this is what I was trying to say, he has absolutely no reason to panic, because the citations are null, voided by the Judge ruling.

What;s the OP?!?!?!

Thanks guys I feel much better now. I hope all of this anxity will be over soon.

Is not a "what" is a "who" :)
You are the OP, the person who started the thread.

As about the Anxiety, mark my words, after the Oath I guarantee you, you'll be like a new born :)
