IV letter recived nov 12,2006
Interview dateEC 13,same say oath
I was worried because I have stayed more than 6 months in 2003 and 5.5 months in 2004.Along with the application I submitted 5 yrs tax returns,Apartment lease papaer and a cover letter explaining honestly why I stayed more than 6 months.
On the interview date, you wait in the appointment room along with other
people, immigartion officer interviewing you ,will come and take you in his/her room.Wear proper attire, carry a nice file floder or office bag,You should look prepared.Don't submit any such papaer if you can't produce original of that.
My husband had clean case so he submitted no paper at all.I saw some people submitting ,marriage certificate even though they were not asked to do
so and their case getting confused with somebody applying on marriage basis, happen to one of my friend,it took lot of time her to explain.Keep it simple and clean.
First you will be asked to verify address, name etc on the N_400 form you submitted, then they will ask you questions related to your case,in my case she asked me to explain my overstay, pls say things you have written in the cover letter, keep your explaination short and precise.
After that she asked me history and civic qusetions, nothing is ever asked
beyound 100 qusetion.
Then you have to read a paragragh and write a simple sentence. In my case it was "I want to be a citizen of united state."They can delay your oath ceremony if you request, they do that without any problem but pls tell them as soon as you are given that congrulation paper. My husband postponed it to jan 10 because of his visit to india.
I hope you find it helpful and good luck.
