I-94 will be taken after the asylum interview?

My friend's I-94 was taken away by the officer after the interview. But when I had my interview, the officer gave my I-94 back to me. Do u guys know why? How it supposed to work?

where did he apply from?

Both interviews at the same location. Officers were from Chicago.

Have you received any decision yet? what did th officer say about the time period to make the decision?

actually, the asylum officer couldn't relief my case from Asylum office however they had to trance my case over to immigration court. Recently I got my finale decision from an Immigration Judge
