I-94 Extension

My friend's mother is in US on visitor visa and she is hospitalized for the past 4 months. Medically she is unfit to travel.
Her I-94 expired in first week of September. But my friend applied for her I-94 extension during July (as soon as she is hospitalized due to emergency).
Two days back he received rejection letter from USCIS and they advised her to leave the country with in 30 days.

Are there any way to re-apply for her I-94 extension ?
I would like to hear from experts.

Thanks,

Even if all adequate documentation was provided, the adjudicating officer is the one to make the call. He/she has complete freedom to approve or deny the I-539. I wouldn't call it "someone at USCIS messed up".

did he provide adequate documentation, because it looks like someone at USCIS messed up.

well what would be a more appropriate reason for extension of stay due to inability to travel on account of hospitalization.

This is a mess up by someone, if the adequate documentation was provided.

My advice file for another extension, with complete documentation, current rejection later and copies of first application.

The way I look at it, denying a privilege is just that, i.e. denying a privilege. It may show lack of compassion but it certainly does not count as a mess up on that USCIS adjudicator's part.

This is a mess up by someone, if the adequate documentation was provided.

it is no longer a privilege but a necessasity when someone is in the hospital and cannot travel, there is no way a person can follow the law.

and the immigrtion law itself has a provision for extension.

This is a clear case of mess up.

This is what will happen when too many people apply for extension(s) using frivolous reasons;). Genuine applicants get their previledges denied. Those who encourage the habit of helping people abuse the facility of extension, by giving fake reasons will hopefully realize that they are NOT doing any HELP but doing a GREAT DIS-SERVICE to genuine applicants.

Hope this serves as an eye-opener for people to discourage visitor extensions unless and until there are solid reasons that justify it.

In any case, no-one knows who messed up. The best advice to the OP is to consult with a good immigration lawyer and let him handle the case and go by his/her advice.
