My company lawyer advised me to apply for I-102 but my case didn't satisfy the criteria mentioned in I-102 form.I took decision myself not to go through lawyer rather cross nearby border. Also, the lawyer asked for $1200 for me and my wife for the process.
My experience:
I drove from SFO to San Ysidro and parked my vehicle in US side(take last US exit) and then took rikshaw taxi to border(one can walk also).I crossed border and made 'U' turn to US.Instead of waiting in a long line ,I entered the gate
and went to the permit office(i-94) which is in the right hand side.Inside the permit office we paid $6 each and waited for officer to call us for permit.I explained my case to the officer and he asked for my I-797 and issued the I-94.In the mean time while working on his computer he asked me what I do.
After he gave I-94 we joined the line to enter US.I was there on Saturday and whole process took 1 hr 15 min.
Thanks
