I-94 expiring while AOS is pending

My I-94 & H1B petition expire in Sep 2002. I currently have an EAD and AP. I have been through my fingerprinting also. Will it be a problem if my 485 approval does not come through before my I94 expiration ? My company\'s immigration people feel it should not be a problem. Can you guys let me know what the deal is
