I-94 Departure record

Hi All,
I had a question related to the I-94 departure record. I came to the US on an F1, in September of 1999 and I received my first I-94 departure record. After my studies I started working, and my company got my H1-B processing done and I got my I-797 approval notice until Apr 2005. Now I left the US for a Vacation to India, but while departing I turned in the I-94 departure record that came along with the I-797, and so I still have the I-94 that was presented when I entered the country on an F1.
My question was will this turn out to be a big problem, since I have to apply for my H1B Visa stamp, while I am here in India. And also what about at the port of entry, since I turned in the I-94 that came with the I-797 and not along with the I-94 I got on entry as a student.

Your help in this matter is highly appreciated. Thanks so much.

If you had noticed the two I94s would have the same number. When you applied for H1 you would have sent the F1 I94 copy.
So they send the new I94 with the same number (or they are crossreferenced).
Your F1 I94 is no longer valid. You would have received a new I94 when you entered US using H1.

Yeah I did notice that both my I-94's had the same number, so I guess my departure has definitely been recorded. Thanks a lot for your response.
