Me and my spouse are in parole status with I-485 pending in NSC.

We were visiting canada and returning through Niagara falls into USA.
At Niagara falls, the Immigration officer did all the usual stuff(with AP) and stamped on the I-94 as
"Your admission cannot be authorized at this time, You are paroled until sept, 16, 2006."
Conditions: AOS-DA."

what does it mean by "Admission not authorized".

Any lights on this, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Because you have a pending adjustment status, it means that you are "permanent temporary" until the USCIS finally has approved the case. As long as you crossed the border legally and the border people went through your paper work including passport and AP document and let you through, you are fine. The purpose of the AP is to do just this, put you on a parole status until you get the final GC approval, as you are no longer on H-1B status, or F-1 status, but in an "in-between" period called adjustment of status.
