I-90 early filling

I know you're not supposed to file I-90 untill you've 6 months or less left before your GC expires. But is it possible to apply early under any circumstance? I mean will your application be rejected if you apply early, lets say 10 months prior to expiration? Thanks.

I had the same quesiton and I called the national service center. Guess what, the wait time is 25 minutes! Then I gave up.
