I-864 tax documentation

I got an RFE for tax documentation. I sent them 2008 because I have not filed 2009. When they say the most recent tax year does that mean 2009?

My wife is a US citizen and I am applying. but the income comes from me alone.

I guess it means tax year 2009. But if you have not filed tax returns yet, your W2 from 2009 should work in addition to tax returns for year 2008.
I am in a similar situation, my wife is a USC and i am currently on H-1B. She used to work but is not working currently, so her income is $0 on the i-864, so i added my current income for the total household income.
I am sending her tax returns for year 2008, her W2 for 2009 (since she worked in 2009 for a bit and hasn't filed for taxes yet). In addition i am sending my w2 from year 2009, and paystubs from the last 3 months to establish current employment.
did you send all such documents too ?
