I-797C... What is that/

Hi,
I have a TN with the "Multiple Entry" stamp on it.
I left the US and when returning from my trip they stopped me in immigrations and made a big deal because I did not have "another" proof of my TN. They were asking for the I-797c and told me that I could not leave the country again without that form.
HELP! Does anybody have any idea of what that is? Where can I get ir? It is weird because last year I left the country and had no problem coming back.
Thanks!
GG

Assuming you have gotten your TN at the border, you never got a I-797, since that is the approval notice when you use a mail-in application (I-129).

if you did a mail-in, they are probably referring to the information stub that comes at the bottom.

Don't sweat it though, you don't need it. They were just being their usual cranky selves.
