i-765 Filed for renewal EAD - No receipt yet

How long does it take for them to send a receipt of application. I applied for my renewal of EAD almost 2 weeks back and still no receipt.

I checked my bank, and the check hasn't been cashed yet. Is this a sign of something seriously wrong with the application? I would be really screwed if so

Where did you send it? If you have sent it to Chicago, it will take little longer since they transfer renewal applications to Lee Summit.

I did send it to Chicago. What is the Lee Summit office?

I am guessing by your timelines it takes at least couple of weeks to get a receipt if mailed to Chicago?

My timeline is for my initial EAD. I just applied for EAD renewal online and sent the supporting documents to Lee Summit, MO. I got the receipt within a week and letter for FP in 2 weeks.
Lee Summit is where EAD and AP gets processed.
Wait for 2 more weeks. Keep eyes on your check.

I sent them a copy of I-485 receipt, back and front copy of old EAD and confirmation page that I printed out at the end of my online application. I applied 3 months in advance.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I have one more question... I was reading the instructions and it says that if answer to Q 16 is c9 then apply to chicago mailbox...

then why did you send it to MO? I mean how did you know that?

You are right. When you read the instructions it says, send it to Chicago but when you do it online, at the end it will ask you to send the supporting documents to Lee Summit by mail and will ask you to print the confirmation page that have a barcode on it.
So basically when you do it online, your application and fees part gets completed. You can pay with a credit card too.

what is the status? Have your checks been cashed or not? Did you receive any notice?

Please update.. I am also going to send for renewal of EAD, not sure how much in advance should I apply.. I have about 5 months more for this EAD...

Some people talk about sending 6 months in advance but then I heard that CIS gets CONFUSED and sends out REPLACEMENT cards instead of RENEWAL ones..

Any comments??
