I-765 Approved Today!

Lakelady you may want to confirm they have the correct adress, but thats probably another one of those generic parts of the letter to incorporate all cases, your good dont worry!!!!!! congrats again

Thanks for all the additional info! turns out that I did the fingerprint only a few days after e-filing, so that's why they never asked me to send the letter with the stamp. Wow, you were really lucky that you did it all before the cut-off date! It all makes sense now :)

do you know if i can change wifes name on I-485 app before approval? i filed under her maiden name and realize it might be a problem

do you think you will use the I-131 we applied also but are afraid because we sent I-485 late

I'd call the 1-800 number and ask about the name change. All I know is that now with the EAD she can legally change her name with the SSA.
I rememebr your story with th I-131, honestly I wouldn't risk leaving the country.... my 2 cent...

i posted what my letter said hope that helps you!
Thank you, Eric!
I guess, your case was different. My mom went for fingerprinting 3 days after I e-filed I-765. The receipt is red stamped, but there is nothing about sending it back. Becides, it has been 2 months we filed it, and no RFE letter. So, I think she is fine.

I'm sorry, Eric, that you and your family is going through this. I totally understand, but the whole problem with immigration laws is not because of those who have legitimate reasons to immigrate. There is a problem because some abuse the system. So much has changed after 9/11.... it is for our safety, but it sucks that everyone has to pay for the mistakes of a few.
I hope everything will be all right and Miami will go through their backlog faster!

thanks i have a feeling you will be getting your interview soon!, they have yet to transfer our case to Miami and no interview is in sight , and from what i read the processing dates are all off anyway, i think all this depends on the work ethics of the people handling your case, 5 miles from here is palm beach county and they go from I-485 application to green card approval in about 5-6 months total, i live in Ft laudedale not Miami and Miami is a great city of diversity and I love the international flair, we have a new baby he will be 1 year old next month and his family, my wifes family, in cartagena have yet to meet him, they are missing the joy of this time, we have done nothing illegal and followed all the rules yet we feel like we are trapped here. we are positive things will go through and were not asking for any favors, and we are patient, the problem is the system is bias based on socio-economic
boundaries of the district in which you file. areas where imigration reform is needed most , los angeles, nyc and miami areas where more people are filing or feel more comfortable living based on demographics of similar cultures or languages need to be upsized to accomodate that influx, and face it if your not native american your family came off some boat anyway to this country so whos to say who has the right to come and go here, as long as you play by the rules set forth by the constittution and thats what makes america so great is the diversity.good luck my 3 cents.

lakelady, did you ever get your EAD? Did it come with your approval notice? I got the same status, which I'm confused about.

My mom's EAD timeline is the same as yours:
RD 01/24/06, was approved on 04/19/06 (I got 5 copies of the same e-mail).
We haven't gotten the approval notice yet. Hopefully, she'll get her card today, too. :)

Above is part of the email that I received from USCIS. Has anyone gotten anything similar??? Anyway, let me give you a break down of my process so far.

1. 07/24/06: All Application were sent out supposedly.(ommited the I-693 intentionally)
2. 08/02/06: USCIS website posted a comment stating that they received the applications that I sent out on 07/24/2006
3. 08/11/2006: I received a letter from DHS advising to go to Charlotte for Biometrics. The date for Biometrics was 08/30/06.
4. 08/25/06: Exactly two weeks later, I received another letter from USCIS requesting for additional evidence and I'm like 'wtf'. All processing will be on hold pending when they receive their request.
5. 08/30/06: Went to Charlotte for the Biometrics regardless of the processing hold. EAD should arrive 90days after today.
6. 10/17/06: Went for various test including HIV (Phew, your boi tested -ive).
7. 11/04/06: Mailed test results with more evidence to USCIS.
8. 11/13/06: Comment was posted on website stating that initial evidence has been received and processing has resumed. I should expect to hear from them within 60days.
9. 12/01/06: Received email stating that EAD has been ordered.

From what I understand, you cannot receive an EAD without biometrics being captured first. Despite the letter of 08/22/06, I still went for my biometrics.
