I-751 Urgent Help

I had sent my request for the I-751 around end of May. I got a receipt in the 2nd week of june confirming that my application has been received. However, today I got a 1 page letter which kind of threw me off and made me a little unsure. The letter basically said (verbatim):

********
Dear Sir or Madam,

Your I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, has not been reviewed by and Immigration Officer to determine legal sufficiency or eligibility. In order to ensure that the case file is complete when an officer reviews it; please submit the following, if you have not already done so:

- Any documentation you consider relevant to establish that your marriage was entered into in good faith and was not for the purpose of circumventing immigration laws.

- Two color, full frontal passport style photographs of yourself and your conditional child[ren].

- A photocopy (front and back) of your Conditional Permanent Resident Card ("green card/Form I-551).

........

********

It went on to stay that I should make a copy of this letter before I send any information along with it and that the processing time is around 6 months.

What I am confused about is that they havent said that I have information missing or not? Is this just a generic letter that is sent to all applicants or is that a hint that I may have something missing and re-send the same? I am pretty sure that I sent everything that I could and have photocopies of all that I sent as well.

Please let me know. I will appreciate it.

Thanks.

Akshtray, don't worry. This is the standard letter everybody gets now days. Just send them what they've asked for (photos and copy of GC). You can also send all the supporting evidence one more time, just to play safe, but I personally don't think it is necessary. What did you include in your package anyway?

Package had a lot of things ..

1. Photos of me with wifes family (her family is 10 miles away) and hers with mine (when they came up from india last year)

2. House Title (with both our names) and Car title (with both our names)

3. Bank Statements from Joint Savings account through the last 2.5 years

4. Affidavits from 2 people stating that they know us as a couple.

5. Life insurance policies showing each other as beneficiaries.

6. Joint Tax returns for the last 3 years.

7. Copy of her Medical Insurance through my work.

8. Copy of her passport and mine.

9. Copy of my GC (front and back)

10. 2 Passport pictures.

Thats all that I can remember at the top of my head. There may have been more. I am pretty sure they got all I sent since my check was in the same package and that was cashed in less that a week.

Maybe thats just my paranoid self getting all jumpy. I do think that sending the passport pictures and copy of the GC again may not be that bad of an idea. So what do you think?

Thanks.

Akshtray, your list of supporting evidence is very impressive. When I was applying for I-751, all I've included was a letter from the bank indicating that we have a joint account, copies of tax returns for 1(!) year and passport/GC copies. Well, during that time though they didn't ask for any photos (it was more than a year ago).
So, you are secure. Nevertheless, you can send passport style pics one more time. It's not a bad idea.
Best of luck.

Thanks Dani ..

That does make me feel a lot better. Did you get the Pink letter too?

Akshtray

Edit:: Yeah .. I think I will send the copy of GC and passport pictures. Just in case. I called the USCIS Customer Service and their answers are always maybe or we dont know. So that wasnt any help at all.

Also, my wifes policy towards this is too send more info than usually requested to avoid any problems .. lol. With the USCIS we dont want take any chances.

Hi Akshtray,
What pink letter? All I got whas yellowish NOA that my I-751 was in process and it will take 330 days to process it (I know now days they issue different NOAs). Later I got the approval letter (just a white piece of paper inviting me to make an infopass and bring my old GC and passport style pics). For some reason those of us who applied in May/June/July 2005 getting their approvals only now, while the rest of the I-751 applicants are being processed much faster.
Yeah, the 1-800 number is often being called the misinformation line...

Dani,

The first letter I got from them was the receipt saying that the application has been received (this was in the 2nd week of June). The 2nd letter I got from them was last Friday. It was pink (burgundy?) in color and had the information in it that I had posted on my first post. Not that the color is important but I figured I'd mention it anyway. Basically very generic saying that the file has not been reviewed yet but send in these if you havent already. That is what threw me off and made me unsure of. I guess it is more of a reminder to make sure that I sent in what I had sent already in the first place but it put me in a panic mode none-the-less.

Thanks.

Ok, got ya. OK, here's the thing. It's the new procedure they follow, thus everybody gets these letters. I didn't because I applied in May 2005, and it all was different then. You'll be fine, don't worry. I-751 is not a priority application, it's a formality.
