Yes, the stamp on your passport extends your conditional resident status for one more year while your I-751 is being processed. You would need it to be in legal status for work/travel.

the notice already states that alien card has been extended -travel and work authorized..
so i still need to get my passport stamped inspite of this receipt which states travel and employment authorized ?

There is no AP here. He already has a green card and that is extended for another year.
Its always safer to get the passport stamped as the stamp is recognised more (by the airlines, POE at other countries) than the extension document. Better safe than sorry.

I petitioned to remove conditions in Feb. I also got a letter that said that my green card is extended 1 year. I travelled abroad in March to Mexico by road. And in August, I travelled to India by air. Both times, I travelled just with my plastic card and that letter. I never got my passport stamped. And both times, there was no problem.
In both cases I first showed them my plastic card only. And then the immigration officer specifically asked for the extension letter. And when i showed them that, I was permitted to enter.

We just applied for the 751. My wife's green card expires 5/24/06. She doesn't have a valid passport. Should she get a new passport and get that stamped before 5/24/06?
